Creating a Multi Cue

This guide explains how to create a Multi Cue in the PV4 Portal. A Multi Cue acts as a container that triggers multiple Single Cues simultaneously.

1. Creating the Cue

  1. Log into the PV4 Portal and navigate to your current Show.

  2. Select Cues in the left-hand navigation.

  3. Navigate to the Cue Type where you want the Multi Cue to be created.

  4. Click the Create Cue button in the upper‑right corner of the cue list.

  5. Enter the initial cue properties:

    • Name – The name of the Multi Cue.

    • Number – This must be unique within the selected Cue Type.

2. Set the Cue Mode

  1. Set the Mode field to Multi.

    • The GUI will update to display Multi‑specific fields.

3. Configure the Multi Cue

  1. In the Master Length field, enter the total amount of time the Multi Cue should run before all child cues transition to their clear scenes.

    • If left blank, each child cue plays according to its own programmed Play/End behaviour.

    • Important: A Master Length must be set if the Multi Cue will be used inside a Sequence.

  2. (Optional) Add a Label to help operators identify the Multi Cue in the Controller's Active Cue List.

4. Add Multi Items (Cues)

  1. In the Multi Items section, click the "+" button to add a new entry.

  2. For each entry that appears in the Multi Items list:

    • Select the Cue Type of the child cue.

    • Enter the Cue Number of the child cue.

  3. The system will automatically detect the cue and display its Name for confirmation.

  4. If a referenced cue does not exist yet, click the arrow to the right of the entry.

    • This opens a slide‑out to create the missing cue.

    • Refer to Creating a New Cue if needed.

  5. Repeat the steps above until all required cues have been added.

  6. Once you are satisfied with the configuration, click Save.

All cues inside a Multi Cue still adhere to Cue Clearing Rules. If two cues target the same surface and one is programmed to clear the other, they will clear each other, even inside a Multi.

Ensure that all cues included in the Multi behave correctly together on their respective surfaces. For complex surface layouts or overlapping content, test Multis in a non‑live environment before show use.
