Templates in PV4 are reusable design structures that combine objects, layouts, and keyframes on a timeline. They define how content appears and behaves during playback and clearing, ensuring consistency and efficiency across multiple cues.
A template includes:
-
Objects: Video, graphics, text, and other media elements.
-
Scenes:
-
Play Scene: Describes how object attributes change during playback.
-
Clear Scene: Describes how object attributes change when cleared from the screen.
-
-
Keyframes: Points on the timeline, for each object, that set attributes for that object at that point. This allows for control and animation of objects — for example, fade-in, slide-in, or volume control.
Templates are constructed for a specific surface and its unique properties but can be adapted to other surfaces when needed.
Templates
Templates are show-specific — each show in your instance has its own set, though templates may be imported from one show to another.
Navigation
Select a Show via the Show Selector in the left-hand navigation panel.
Access the show's available templates via the Cue Templates page in the left-hand panel.
Browse and search by Name.
Template slide-out
Clicking a template opens a detailed panel with:
-
Name and Label: identification fields.
-
Description.
-
Surface: the surface this template is built for.
-
Timing Object.
-
Scenes: expandable Play Scene and Clear Scene sections.
-
Versions: an expandable version history.
An Open Template Editor button opens the full editor for that template. A template's surface is changed from within the Template Editor.
When duplicating a template, rename the copy right away, before making further changes, so it's clearly distinguishable from the original.
