A User is an individual account with access to the PV4 Portal. Users are managed from the Users tab under Authorisation in the Portal's main menu — see Guide: Creating a New User and Guide: Editing an Existing User.
Each user has:

A username and full name.

A federated user flag — whether they sign in through your organization's SSO (federated) or a standalone PV4 account created directly in the Portal.

An IDP attribute — the identifier they log in with, most often an email address.

One or more assigned Roles, which determine what they can see and do — see Roles.
PV4 supports two sign-in paths: your organization's SSO, or a dedicated PV4 account created within the Portal. SSO is currently an enterprise-tier feature — self-serve accounts sign in with a standalone PV4 account only.
